Camping Trip

So, you decided to go on a camping trip. Here, the most important thing is to pack the things properly, in order to make your trip as comfortable as possible.

Tourist backpack

There are many opinions about the volume of the backpack. Someone likes when the things are hanging from the outside, like a Christmas tree, while someone is caring everything inside in a 120 liter trunk. I adhere to the following principle: for a 6-8 day trip, the volume of the backpack should be 60-80 liters. This volume allows you to hold all the things inside, so that the center of gravity of the backpack was as close to the back as possible. This greatly facilitates the movement. It also excludes the possibility of losing the things, or clinging to all kinds of bushes.

There are many different modifications of tents with different purposes, so it’s unreal to consider everything here. I will only write that one of the key parameters of the tent is weight. The lighter the tent is, the better!

Sleeping bag

I’ll say right away – it’s better to be a little cautious here. All sleeping bags have a so-called comfort temperature. It is always indicated on the sleeping bag and means that at this temperature “overboard”, the average person will be comfortable to sleep. However, all people are different and carry the temperature differently. Therefore, the sleeping bag should be warm enough for spring-autumn hikes Here, the weight plays a big role as well- a summer sleeping bag weighs a kilogram less than a winter one.

Tourist rug

There are quite a lot of them. There are also self-inflating, super-light, with the effect of a thermos, etc. If you like hiking, then you will figure out the right rug for yourself, considering: thickness / width / length.

Tracking sticks

Tracking sticks, significantly relieve the load from the feet, especially on the descent. Their presence is very desirable, but not necessary.

Cape on a backpack or raincoat-poncho

It is very desirable to have a cover on the backpack, as all the backpacks sooner or later get wet in the rain. An alternative is a cloak-poncho, which covers a person with a backpack. In general, things should be in plastic bags (garbage bags are perfect for this).

Mug + Spoon + Bowl + Knife

In any hike, you need to eat. Virtually the entire population of India is eating with their hands. Not because they are uncultured, but because they accustomed to do so. However, if you are not a Hindu, then this wonderful quartet makes the process of eating better. In fact, you can save money on a bowl, taking a large mug with you. However, this saving is not for the lazy, because the mug will have to be washed after the porridge before tea. By functionality, only a knife is knocked out of this four.

Head Torch

The most necessary thing. The field of application is wherever light is needed: from cooking in the dark to signaling alerts. Modern diode lights are very different from their predecessors. Equipped with high-power diodes in combination with optical focusing amplifiers, it gives a strong light, and due to its cost-effectiveness it can be used for a very long time in the offline mode. In the hike, the daily need for a flashlight 1,5-3 hours, respectively, one charge is enough for 40-80 days! Impressive, right?

Matches are a strategic thing in the campaign. Each participant must have a sealed package. Because, without a fire, it becomes very bad. It is impossible to eat only bread and canned goods for a long time.

A more extravagant alternative to matches is flint. It is not so convenient to make a bonfire as with matches, but it is a trouble-free method. Such fire is not afraid of water, does not damp, does not break down and almost does not end. Well, this is an exciting way to breed fire.

This item should be put first, because it is possible to travel with a bad backpack, running tent, to spend the night in a cold sleeping bag, but if you have uncomfortable shoes, your trip will turn into a disaster. Shoes should keep the ankle, have a sole with good grip and be comfortable. For this purpose, leather tracking boots match perfectly.

First Aid Kit

The main first aid kit is located at the handler. You need to have bandage, peroxide, greenery, baby cream (very often there is rubbing in the perineum) and if you need, personal medications (about which you should inform the instructor in advance).

Means of personal hygiene

  • Toothbrush;
  • Tooth paste (one tube is enough for everyone);
  • Toilet paper is a multifunctional invention of humanity! Very useful thing (it is better to take a whole roll);
  • Cosmetics – girls who used to go on a hike prefer a lighter backpack than an arsenal of jars and tubes. From the experience of observation I will say, usually one cream is enough;
  • Shampoo at a time, if the trip is more than 4 days.

Take care of spare batteries. A tripod is an unjustifiable luxury. You will not use it, but you will have to carry it.

Tracking socks

The composition of these socks includes a special material – CoolMax, which removes moisture from the foot, due to which the legs remain dry and do not rub. They also have the so-called “elongated loop” inside, which softens the interaction between the shoes and the foot. Socks made of cotton can be worn only as a last resort.

Tracking pants

Running pants should be lightweight, strong, do not restrain movements and, if possible, do not blow through the wind (for spring-autumn hikes) and at the same time “breathe well”. At once, I will say that this is not a cosmic development, but quite affordable clothing.

Thermal underwear

Like socks, thermal underwear (thermo-shirt) allows you to feel much more comfortable throughout the day. Having in the composition of the fabric CoolMax, such clothes draw sweat away from the body and quickly dries, during the halt, while the cotton shirt will unpleasantly stick to the body.
